Who qualifies for the title of sexologist?
"Sexologist" is a professional specialist in the Scientific Studies of Sexuality with a) a Ph D (or equivalent) - the highest possible qualification in sexuality OR with b) a Ph D (or equivalent) in a related discipline with additional post-graduate formal training in sexuality . Sexologists must practice (or lecture) as a "sexologist" and they must be registered with the CSHP.
What services are provided by a sexologist?
Please note that not all sexologists are specialising in all specialities below and that only a few examples are given below.
Sexology (diagnoses and treatment) often requires professional team work between the General Practitioner, the Sexologist, the Psychologist and specialists such as Urologists, Gynecologists, Endocrinologists, Surgeons and other professionals. The sexologist is trained to know who & when to refer.
